Sally Bowles is one of the main character in the 'Caberet.' She also appears as British. She is originally a character created by Christopher Isherwood. She first appeared in Christopher's novel, 'Sally Bowles.) That same story was then republished as a novel called 'Goodbye to Berlin.' Sally is the protagonist in most of the stories adaptations such as 'Cabaret.' a description of Sally by Isherwood;
'I noticed that her finger-nails were painted emerald green, a colour unfortunately chosen, for it called attention to her hands, which were much stained by cigarette smoking and as dirty as a little girl's. She was dark....Her face was long and thin, powdered dead white. She had very large brown eyes which should have been darker, to match her hair and the pencil she used for her eyebrows.'

Sally is described and portrayed as a confident young aspiring actress. She wishes to become an actress and performs in places such as the KitKat club. She is not considered the best singer but she is a brilliant actress and her stage presence never fails to entertain customers. However she knows her career in acting does not look to bright so is known for having multiple lovers as if her career plan fails she will find a wealthy man to keep her. From all adaptations of the story, script, play. I think there is definitely an underlying hidden part of Sally that nobody gets to see. She is constantly playing this confident, flirtatious, outrageous character but I think that's not her real persona. We rarely see a different between her on stage character and her persona in reality as she is constantly playing this role on and off stage.
EMCEE :
The EMCEE character is pretty basic. Not in appearance or character but in explanation as his character is more or less the same throughout all adaptations. The EMCEE is an on stage performer. He is more or less the host for the night who plays and acts alongside singers and dancers and adds humour to the performance. His appearance (as I go to look at in much more details further in my blog) is quite feminine as he wears quite theatrical make-up which makes him appear as an androgynous female. His clothes are usually portrayed in suit form and are quite formal. I think his character is most exciting to watch compared to the others as we don't see him out of character ever.

FRAULEIN SCHNEIDER :
Fraulein is a pragmatic German landlady. Were not given to much detail about her other than that she wanders around in a large, long dressing gown and slipper. Her appearance differs from the rest of the cast as there is not much time and effort put into her appearance like the others and we are not given much detail about her past/future/present.
