1920's/1930's inspired hairstyles...
The character I chose to design is Sally Bowle's. Her character seemed most interesting when we began to research the Cabaret script and watch 'Goodbye to Berlin'. However the only downfall was that she was quite a popular choice throughout the class encouraging people to go one step further and design an original, unique design but still keep historical elements which is quite a tricky pairing.
My Sally is going to be dark haired like Liza Menelli role in 'Goodbye to Berlin. My reasoning for this is that I think the dark hair represents and connotes her character much better. She's known to be quite flirtatious and dramatic, an aspiring actress on set and off so I think the long dark hair like I've chosen with best display these characteristics. She definitely pretends to be someone else always putting on this showbiz actress façade so I think the dark long hair gives her a look of sophistication and even an element of high class to match this persona she's trying so hard to portray.
I only decided to change my hair design in the last week as after my one-one tutorial with Seema we decided I could go with a more original design that I personally wanted to do from the beginning. I was originally going to create the 1920's and 1930's inspired wavy bob however Seema encouraged me to explore a design I was to do but worried it was to contemporary. So we decided to include some 1920's/30's elements with my long haired design. It mainly consists of big pins curls that will be brushed out lightly to create a soft big wave but still holding some structure. The top of the head will be styled like the short way bob by pin curling and setting some lose curls at the top of the head then lightly brushing them through to hang over the eye. The bit I'm most excited about for this particular hair design is the shine spray. I think this added over the curls is going to produce a really sexy, confident look.

Sally Bowles, hair and make-up mood board:
I wanted to trial the design before the assessment but struggled to find a model with long hair practice on. I initially began creating the short bob we had been taught in lesson but didn't role the long hair to the nape of the neck as my design for going to be a longer version of the short bob. The trail helped me remember how I designed the style at first step by step as I had only created it once when I was taught it by Seema. So the trail benefited me when it came to writing my instructions for my partner to follow.

MAKE-UP -
These are my trial images of practising my Sally Bowles historical look on myself. It went better than expected but the I had to ensure the lip application was much thinner when writing instructions for my partner to design. As I don't want the images to look at if the whole lip is covered in products, just a pinched pout effect.
