Trialling my ideas...

I definitely tried much harder when it came to designing my contemporary design. I was really disappointed with my historical outcome so ensured I put much more effort into this design so I could prove I am capable.
I definitely tried much harder when it came to designing my contemporary design. I was really disappointed with my historical outcome so ensured I put much more effort into this design so I could prove I am capable.
The first photographed eyelashes are ones I already owned luckily, I think the length, thickness and added silver really adds to the 20's/30's theme. The colourful ones below are ones I made myself by cutting up feather and glueing them alongside each other on top of an already purchased pair of lashes. I was dying to use them within my design but they were to over bearing against the other colour I had already included.
The sponges were only a pound land purchase but came in really handy when I was practising using supra colour around the eye. They helped ensure each eye had a similar shape and coverage.
Supra-palette.
I was aiming to add colour to the hair either over the bun/knots or over the kiss curls. The gold was added over the knots in a couple of my final shots, I think it was really effective again the lights.
Feather used to make the lashes.
Stencils I used for the eyebrows in the end but
first used them on top of the lips.
Make-up trials...
These images are me practising my basic look on the face.
I have blocked out the eyebrows by layer glue and powder which was much more difficult than expected! I then went on to draw dark brown eyebrows above the eyebrows in a lined shape so my look incorporated some 1920's and 30's elements. Using the sponged I then added white supra colour all over the eye lid and up and over the brow. I also took it under the water line and used the edge of the sponges to drag down some red and blue supra colour. This created a dropped tear effect which I quite liked. However the look overall was to clownish . The lips are also lined with blue. I didn't photograph the first experiment but I was first of all planning to create a Leigh Bowery inspired exaggerated lip. But this looked really bad when trialled so I decided to line the lip rather than cover it due to other elements of the face already carrying a lot of colour.
I then went on to stencil under the brow bone and lips. I loved the effect it gave and how strong it printed onto the skin. I was really fond of the orange pigment to, it showed up really strong on camera. I attempted to stencil the lips to but this create a more animal print inspired look which I liked but had no relevence to my design.
I added yellow under the eye to just to test what effect a brighter colour would make.
The white on the lip was added to to try and create 3D effect.
I had a feeling that the eyelashes I made would be way to big for the face. I did attempt to shorten them but they just lost there appeal and still took over a lot of the face.
Hair trials...
I was way more confident on how my hair design was going to look rather than my make-up. I knew I wanted knots/buns in the hair but wasn't completely sure how to situate them on the head. I put three down the middle of my head but it was quite hard to practice on myself as I do not have a proper view. I didn't have any gel to hand either when trying to create the kiss curls so you can't really see a shape to them. This was the only really trail I did to see if I should include coloured spray over the kiss curls. The spray comes out very strong so It was very difficult aiming it to a particular area.
